Boston terror attack updates: America's endless war on terror.

It is official.  The Boston terror attack suspect in custody,
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, has admitted that America's disastrous wars in the Middle East were the reason for the terror bombings conducted by his brother and himself.

They had no ties to any professional international terror group.  In the link below, a US intelligence official says that he believes they are more such independently motivated lone wolf operators in America.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/boston-bombing-suspect-cites-us-wars-as-motivation-officials-say/2013/04/23/324b9cea-ac29-11e2-b6fd-ba6f5f26d70e_story.html

I very much agree with that intelligence official.  The wars in the Middle East have been absolute disasters.  They have wasted much money, They have not brought America any riches, only a few corporations make immense profits from those wars.

In my last post, I wrote that America really does not know about the Muslim world, and they have no idea about who they are killing.

http://tokyomaxtalks.blogspot.jp/2013/04/boston-terror-bombing-and-collective.html

Just how does the US choose drone targets?  Here is an explanation of the methods used to judge if an attack should be launched.

http://www.propublica.org/article/how-does-the-u.s.-mark-unidentified-men-in-pakistan-and-yemen-as-drone-targ

But a quick read of that article will tell that Americans really don't know what they are doing.  Remember, the drone pilots actually live and operate the drones from a base in Nevada in the USA.

How can they judge if a group of men is really Al Qaeda?  Are people moving towards the Afghan border really terrorists?

The countries where America operates drones have always been filled with armed men since human history began have always been filled with armed men.  In most of those areas, there has never ever been any kind of stable government.

And as I have written, a lot of children and other people are killed by the drones.

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/03/drone-strikes-interactive-visualization-pitch

Who is America killing?  They don't know.  But I do think that there will be more copy cat attacks inside America.  There are many people in America who cannot fit into society for many reasons.  I am sure that more people will seek revenge for their problems.

It is a tragic story.  I really wish that America would just pull out of the mIddle East altogether.  Americans give the reason for their Middle Eastern wars as to kill terrorists before they attack America.

But if the American wars in the Middle East kill so many people that it inspires sympathy attacks by Americans inside America, is it not a failure?

Yes, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is an American, he had taken American citizenship.

I see no way out of this, America is slot in a dark difficult maze.

Below, I include some views of police in Boston.  Remember, all these pictures are police, not Army.  This is not the America I remember from 39 years ago.

All in all, 9,000 police were used.

The Boston terror bombing, and collective defense

On April 15th, two bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon, killing 4 people and injuring around 140.

Again, America is a center of violence.  But why did this happen?

So far, there are two suspects.  They have been identified as two brothers born in Chechnya, in the Caucasus region.

Boston police commissioner Ed Davis says he believes that they came to America to kill people.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/19/dzhokhar-tsarnaev_n_3114881.html

But in an interview with an uncle, he said that the boys had been in America for 10 years.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/19/ruslan-tsarni-uncle-of-suspects-interview_n_3116075.html

Well then, it certainly took them a long time to start killing people.  In the uncle's interview above, he also provides a clue why the boys made the bombs, a feeling that they must protect Islamic people and the Islamic religion.

Well, they certainly did not have professional training.  The bombs they made were very crude homemade devices.  And they were easily caught by surveillance cameras in the area where they placed the bombs.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/18/boston-marathon-bombing_n_3109768.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular

I don't think that this is a professional terrorist operation.  No such group has claimed credit for this, it was really two boys in America who created the bombs.  So why did they do this?

Many Japanese people think of America as a land of freedom, where anyone can immigrate and find acceptance.  This is completely untrue.  There are many deep prejudices in America.

The first thing that struck me about the boys was their names, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsnarnaev.  In America with such ethnic names like that, he will have a very hard time.  No American will make friends with you, they will constantly make jokes about your name.

I know.  When I lived in America, I would occasionally be insulted about my family name, Von Schuler.  Many times, people would call me a nazi.

The thing is, if your name is not something like Bob Smith, Americans will not accept you.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/19/chechnya-boston-suspects_n_3118064.html?1366405652

It has always been difficult for Muslim people to live in America.  Since they are not Christian, Americans will not accept them as true Americans.  Also, since the 9/11 attacks, all Muslims are regarded as the enemy.

Well, even today most Americans don't trust Japanese because of Pearl Harbor either.

And since 9/11 America has behaved terribly in the Muslim world.

There have been many killings of civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jul/25/afghanistan-war-logs-military-leaks

In fact, many Afghan soldiers have been killing Americans because of their insulting behavior.

http://nation.foxnews.com/muslims/2012/10/01/pentagon-blames-friendly-fire-attacks-culturally-insensitive-behavior-us-troops

http://www.armytimes.com/article/20120503/NEWS/205030315/Officials-troubled-over-behavior-of-U-S-troops

Here is a photo of a Marine unit with a Nazi flag in Afghanistan.

What the display of this flag means is that every non White, non Christian person is an enemy of America.  Yes, there are Nazi's in America, and they are just as bad as what happened in Germany.  And many of them are in the US military.

And in particular, the American use of drones in the Muslim world has killed many people.  Every Tuesday President Obama holds a meeting deciding who to kill that week.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/29/world/obamas-leadership-in-war-on-al-qaeda.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Since 9/11, The President of the United States has the right to order the killing of any person he decides is a terrorist.

Yet look at the graphic in the link below.  In Pakistan alone, America has killed 3115 people by drone strike since 2004.

Of these, 47 were people that America wanted to kill.  "High Profile" in the link below.  But America also killed 175 children, 535 civilians, and 2358 "other" people in Pakistan in the same period.

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/03/drone-strikes-interactive-visualization-pitch

And how does the US explain this?  It simply says that if you stand near a terrorist, you are a terrorist.  What this means is, to Americans, Pakistani children are terrorists and should be killed.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/29/drone-attacks-innocent-civilians_n_1554380.html

There has been no more than a few Americans protesting the drone attacks.  Most Americans just don't care.

The fact is, Americans, including the Intelligence agencies, have little understanding of the Muslim world.  I really don't think they have any idea if most of the people they kill are truly terrorists trying to attack America or not.

So we have two Muslim boys in America, who actually came to America for freedom.  Their family moved to Russia to escape the war in Chechnya, and then to the United States.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/19/chechnya-boston-suspects_n_3118064.html?1366405652

Reading the interview with the uncle, I can tell that he has come to terms with the difficulties of living in America.  It seems that he tried to convince the boys to accept America, and not to worry about Islam.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/19/ruslan-tsarni-uncle-of-suspects-interview_n_3116075.html

But they found life in America harsh and difficult.  Perhaps they decided to attack Americans in revenge for American behavior in the Middle East.  This does not in any way provide a reason for making bombs and killing people.  But perhaps we can understand why this happened.  Of course most immigrants to America endure and adapt to life there.

But the fact is, I am very surprised that there have not been more such sympathy terror attacks inside America.  American behavior in The Middle East has been that terrible.

America started a series of wars in The Middle East as revenge for 9/11, and to control the world's oil supply.  America has failed miserably in all respects.  They have been ejected from Iraq, are failing in Afghanistan.

Yet what America means by common defense is send Japanese and Korean troops to the Middle East to fight for American goals.  Those goals are not Japanese goals.

If we do America's bidding, we can expect such homegrown terror attacks like in Boston in Japan.

We should stay away from such American plans, and pursue Japanese policy.

More comfort Women memorials in America

Recently, Korean Americans are stepping up their efforts to portray Japan in a bad light in America with the Comfort Women issue.  They are teaming up with Jewish American groups, and claiming the same status as war victims.

Absolutely untrue.  Below, I include the email I sent to America.  For a list of email addresses to contact, please look at the link below.  I sent an email to all of the addresses.

To the members of the Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County.

I have read of your decision to put up a permanent memorial to the so called "Comfort Women" with deep unease and regret.  This is the same as putting up a memorial to the camp guards at Auschwitz.

If I were Jewish, I would find this a great insult.  Even though I am not Jewish, I find this insulting as a historian.

You are being conned.  During the war, the Korean people were Japanese citizens, and were willing and able participants in the Japanese Empire.  It is after the war that they decided that they were victims, and switched roles.

And even in their own country, Korea, women are demonstrating for their right to be prostitutes.  Yet they accuse Japan of a crime?

http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,2072487,00.html

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/43650531/ns/world_news-asia_pacific/t/s-korean-sex-workers-threaten-set-themselves-fire-protect-their-brothels/#.UVoTg4VmGv9

Protesting Korean prostitutes attempt to set themselves on fire.

Let me explain.

America is a country that treasures human rights for the individual.  And in particular, the rights of women world wide are a concern for Americans.  When people use the term "Sex Slave" to describe the Comfort Women, it resonates in the United States.

But were these women indeed slaves?  No.  First of all, as distasteful as it may seem, it was common in both Japan and Korea pre war to sell daughters into prostitution.  For poor families with too many mouths to feed, this was the only option.

As far as the comfort women were concerned, they were paid.  The recruiters were all ethnic Koreans.  People have conjured up an image of the Imperial Japanese Army rampaging trough Korean villages, and hauling off screaming women.

This never happened.

Please refer to the Pdf below.

http://www.google.co.jp/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CDEQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sdh-fact.com%2FCL02_1%2F89_S4.pdf&ei=MaVSUZbjLcfEkQW624F4&usg=AFQjCNGGResjVTolTk4gyz0uChvLACnT7Q&bvm=bv.44342787,d.dGI

On page 117, it lists some newspaper advertisements from 1944 for Comfort Women.  As a matter of reference, monthly pay is listed as ¥300.  At that time a Japanese Imperial Army sergeant was paid ¥30 a month.

The Korean government itself continued the Comfort Women system post war for US troops.

I have written about it extensively in my blog.  And I have visited the Silver town mentioned in my blog below.

http://tokyomaxtalks.blogspot.jp/2012/06/concerning-comfort-women-memorials.html

In any case, Koreans continued the system after the war.  And today, Koreans are the greatest human traffickers in the United States.

If the Korean people in the United States are serious about combatting prostitution, why do they not cooperate with the FBI and stop the traffickers from their own community?

There are no organized Japanese prostitutes in the US at all.  Those massage parlors you see with names like Osaka and Nagoya, they are Korean.

In any case, Japan has paid extensive reparations to Korea.

http://www.jiyuushikan.org/e/reparations.html

At the time of payment, these funds were to settle all claims, including the Comfort Women issue.

And Japan has apologized, endlessly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_war_apology_statements_issued_by_Japan

Now it seems that some Koreans simply want more money.

Koreans have a problem with history.  Years ago when I was in Korea, I was discussing WWII with some Korean people.  They insisted that their country had the worst experience of the war.

I am a WWII historian, and I differ with that assessment.  My candidate for country with the worst war experience, if I had to pick, would be Poland.  Invaded by both Germany and the Soviet Union, Occupied by Germany, the Jewish Warsaw Ghetto uprising of 1943, the Polish Home Army Warsaw uprising of 1944 all devastated the country.  Then the savage resistance of the German Army as the Soviets pushed towards Berlin.

And of course there was constant guerrilla activity.

Postwar, Poland lost a third of it's eastern territory and was ordered to takeover the former German territories of Prussia and Silesia.  Many people were killed and displaced.  All in all, Poland lost 25% of it's prewar population.

But when I was in Korea, Korean people insisted that their WWII experience was much worse than Poland.

That is when Korean people lost my sympathy for any claim whatsoever about WWII.

The thing about Koreans is, they did not resist the Japanese annexation of their country.  Most Koreans embraced it.  And this is their shame today.

There was no resistance movement inside Korea.  There was one major riot in 1919 where some thousands were killed.  That was all.  There was a guerrilla movement in the far north of the country, but they could not base themselves inside Korea, their bases were in Manchuria.

All they could do was make the occasional foray into Korea, they received no help from the Korean populace.  And they numbered only about 1,500 individuals.

More Koreans have died fighting post war Korean governments than fighting Japan.

Koreans will tell you that they were forced to cooperate because Japan was so brutal.  Well in Europe, many Balts, Ukrainians, Russians and other nationalities fought in German uniform, something like 1 million.

Would the Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center put up a memorial to them?  By putting up such an exhibition for the Comfort Women, that is what you are doing.

But these countries also had anti German guerrilla movements.  Korea has no such history.  And this is their shame today.  During WWII, they willingly fought for Japan.  They willingly recruited their own women for prostitution.

By putting up this exhibition, you are getting involved with Korean inferiority complexes towards Japan.  And you are making serious historical mistakes.

The only evidence the Koreans now have are a few eyewitnesses.  Yet any historian will tell you, eyewitness testimony is very unreliable.  You need other sources.

Things just did not happen like Koreans say they did.  I seriously ask you to do more research into the true nature of Japanese/Korean relations.

And to be fair, if you want to address women's issues, you should address modern day Korean human trafficking in the United States.
